Vinicius Junior: Injury Update, Return Date, Games Missed

Real Madrid has another injury update regarding Vinicius Junior regarding the October international break.

Despite keeping a perfect La Liga record so far in the current campaign, this Real Madrid team is a lot less potent than the one that won three successive Champions League titles with Carvajal set to miss up to the second half of the season with a hamstring injury. In stoppage time of a match Real Madrid defeating Villarreal by 2-0, a 32-year-old player was taken off the field, and the scan, according to the news, showed triple knee ligament injury which would have ruled him out for the remainder part of 2024/25.

Shockingly, the loss of Carvajal is a significant loss for the team while Vinicius Junior’s problem does not seem as grave. The Brazilian winger was forced to be substituted in the same game and the club later said he had a cervical injury but they didn’t go further.

Reports from Spanish sports daily Marca state that the diagnosis is sunny for Vinicius. The club remains hopeful that he could come back soon and anticipates that he could be back in action in Real Madrid’s next match against Celta Vigo on October 19. However, he is likely to pull out of Brazil’s group for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Vinicius Junior’s Absence

But with regards to the period in which the injury was incurred, it has not been established though he offered a ridiculous statement by stating that he may not even miss one match for Real Madrid. But he will not be able to comply with Brazil’s 2014 World Cup qualification matches against Chile on October 11 and Peru in Brasilia on October 16. This means that while at the moment Brazil takes the 5th place out of all the CONMEBOL countries, only the six best teams of the given ranking can qualify for the championship of 2026.

Vinicius Junior has hit one or two major injuries if considering his period at Real Madrid, for example, a knee injury in his maiden season during the 2018/ 2019 season that sidelined him for three months. His last long-term spell on the sidelines was last year the player was out of action from mid-November to January after he suffered a torn thigh muscle. Having signed for Real Madrid, Vinicius has been sidelined for about 30 matches for his team and Brazil because of injuries.
