Ruud van Nistelrooy Reveals Next Move After Emotional Man United Farewell

Ruud van Nistelrooy has confirmed he will decide on his future at Manchester United in the next 24 hours as Ruben Amorim prepares to take over at the club.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed he will decide on his future at Manchester United in the coming days as new manager Ruben Amorim prepares to take over at the club. The former United striker, who has been in charge for the last four games following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, has overseen a run of three wins and a draw.

However, with Amorim expected to play for his team, Van Nistelrooy's position is uncertain. Despite this, he has expressed his desire to stay and work with Amorim and has also admitted that he dreams of one day becoming the club's permanent manager.

The two men are expected to have crucial discussions after Amorim's final match in charge of Sporting Lisbon against Braga. After United's convincing 3-0 win over Leicester City, an emotional Van Nistelrooy told BBC Sport: "I enjoyed it, it was a short but incredible spell. We are in a precarious position but we tried to do our job to help the club, which is important."

He added, turning to the support of the fans: "There is a lot of emotion here. The way the fans have always supported me and the team in difficult moments was a special moment. To end this block of games with good results and good connections, I can't thank them enough. We'll find out what the next plan is now."

After his last match, Van Nistelrooy shared his thoughts in the press conference, explaining why the clarity of the club's hierarchy was important to him: "(The club's hierarchy) said: "ok, it will be four [parties], let's go. announce a new coach, etc., etc. "For me, it is important to have that clarity and I appreciate that. At the end of the day, the most important thing is this football club and I am here to support my role," reports the Mirror.

He added: "As I said, I want to continue doing this in the future and now the communication was good, [that] after the block of four parties, there will be communication with you and your colleagues who are in a situation precarious. So we expect to hear from them today or tomorrow."

Amorim looks set to join Manchester United with a successful spell at Sporting behind him, with assistants Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido helping to instill his philosophy. As for Van Nistelrooy, he said in Friday's pre-match press conference: “I'm calm, to be honest. I trust the process."

He remains optimistic about his future, saying: "I think the result will be good because I think while I'm here there is no news. I'm here at Manchester United so that's my goal, I'm calm in this sense. and you'll see when communication is done.

Due to the international break, Amorim will not return to the bench until Sunday, November 24, when the Red Devils face the promotion Ipswich Town at Portman Road. That gives him almost two weeks to put his affairs in order and whatever he decides, he will appreciate Van Nistelrooy's efforts as a goalkeeper.
