Ruben Amorim's departure from Sporting marked the beginning of a new era at Manchester United.
Having secured an 11th consecutive league win with Sporting, the Portuguese manager heads to Old Trafford with confidence but with a clear view of the challenges ahead.
Amorim's impressive record, most recently the 4-1 Champions League win over Manchester City, has given United fans hope.
However, Amorimi is candid about the road, highlighting the degree of difficulty that awaits him in this high-profile role.
Ready for United but 'not naive'
Speaking to reporters after Sporting's latest win, Amorim expressed his excitement about the move but was realistic about what it meant to take charge of one of England's biggest clubs. "I feel ready for this new challenge," she said. “I'm not naive.
I know it will be very different, very difficult. "Despite these challenges, he is looking forward to his debut and hopes to be ready from the start.
The 39-year-old has made it clear that he plans to bring the 3-4-3 formation with him. "We started with a structure we knew," Amorim said. "Then you adapt to the players you have." That structured approach will be essential as he expects limited training time before his first game.
Amorim focuses on stability and a well-defined system, hoping to create an organized and efficient team despite the intense schedule.
What about Van Nistelrooy?
One key question remains: what happens to interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy? The former United striker led the team to a solid 3-0 win over Leicester City last weekend and has overseen three wins and a draw since the departure of Erik ten Hag. Amorim, however, did not confirm that Van Nistelrooy was staying. "I will speak to him tomorrow, then I will explain everything to him," Amorim said, adding: "We will wait and see."
Amorim's first Premier League game for United will be on November 24 against Ipswich Town. Currently 13th in the table, United are fighting to get back into the top four. It has been a tough start, but Amorim is focused and ready to bring his strategic style to Old Trafford.
