Al Nassr hit a bump in the road when their captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, couldn't play the AFC League match against Al Short on 16.
On Sunday, the team from Saudi Arabia made a trip to Baghdad. They were gearing up for their very first game in the 2024/25 season. Exciting times!
Ronaldo started this season strong! He scored four goals in just five games in all competitions. Plus, during the international break in September, he netted goals in every match for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League. Oh, and he even made history as the first male player to score 900 career goals—what an amazing feat!
Unfortunately, the 39-year-old star won’t be playing on Monday. He’s been told he should take some time to rest.
Here's a quick fitness update on Cristiano:
On September 15, Al Nassr announced that Ronaldo caught a virus. The team doctor recommended he stay at home to recover instead of going with his teammates for the match against Al Shorta.
Here’s hoping! The club is really wishing he can return and be ready to shine in their next Saudi Pro League game versus Al Ettifaq on September 20.
