Real Madrid vs AC Milan Confirmed Lineups, Team News, & Injury Updates

Real Madrid face a long-time rival in the Champions League on November 5 when they host AC Milan in the Spanish capital.

The reigning champions are the most successful club in European Cup/Champions League history with 16 titles to their name, ahead of second-placed Milan who have seven.

Two of those titles for the Italian giants were won by current Real manager Carlo Ancelotti, who lifted the famous trophy in 2003 and 2007. The 65-year-old has since won three more in two spells with Los Blancos in 2014, 2022, and 2024.

Ancelotti will be a key target ahead of the game as he looks to stabilize Real Madrid after a period of mixed form. Lille recorded a surprise win in Madrid on October 2, before Ancelotti's men rallied in their next European game to win 5-2 at home to Borussia Dortmund after trailing 2-0.

This was quickly followed by a 4-0 defeat at Barcelona in El Clasico on October 26 and their La Liga trip to Valencia last weekend was canceled due to the devastation caused by Storm Dana in the region.

Paulo Fonseca has had an inconsistent start to the season since taking over at Milan earlier this season with one win in three Champions League games and two in their last four Serie A games.

La Liga's decision to cancel Real Madrid's game in Valencia was seen as a smart move by Ancelotti as Spain suffers from flooding on the country's east coast.

Ancelotti's message before the match focused on football which is an afterthought in the country at the moment, in a press conference only at Valdebebas.

In terms of team news, Federico Valverde and Rodrgyo have both recovered from minor injuries and will be in the matchday squad.

Rodrygo missed the game against Barcelona and the Brazilian is a key part of Ancelotti's preferred XI, with Aurelien Tchouameni likely to pave the way for his return.

First-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois remains unavailable, along with Andriy Lun. Long-term absentees David Alaba and Dani Carvajal are out until 2025.

Real Madrid (4-3-3, from right to left): Lunin (GK) - Vazquez, Militao, Rudiger, Mendy - Valverde, Bellingham, Camavinga - Rodrygo, Mbappe, Vinicius Jr.

Injuries: Courtois, Alaba, Carvajal
Suspended: none

AC Milan is still without several key players in their ranks, with Matteo Gabbia, Ismael Bennacer and Alessandro Florenzi all out injured.

Fonseca rested several key players for the weekend's 1-0 win at Monza, with Fikayo Tomori and Emerson Royal both starting for Madrid. USMNT star Christian Pulisic will play up front, while Tammy Abraham has also been ruled fit after picking up a minor knock.

The big choice that Fonseca will face has to do with Portuguese Rafael Leao, who remains on the bench against Monza. Fonseca has dismissed rumors of a rift with the player - who has been linked with a move to Barcelona - and could keep him on the bench for this match.

AC Milan (4-2-3-1, from right to left): Maignan (GK) - Emerson, Tomori, Thiaw, Hernandez - Reijnders, Fofana - Chukwueze, Pulisic, Okafor - Morata.

Injured: Gabbia, Bennacer, Florenzi
Suspended: none
