At left-back, it's not about quantity, it's about quality. Los Blancos are looking for an upgrade from Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia, and Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies is seen as a target.
Amidst the uncertainty over both defensive positions and the defense in general, Real Madrid's homegrown star Miguel Gutierrez emerged as a serious option after his success at Girona, but the situation now appears to have changed. As MARCA recently revealed, Real Madrid no longer plans to use the purchase clause for Gutierrez, who shines today in Girona.
The 23-year-old has established himself as a regular starter for Michel's side and has already made 12 appearances in that capacity this season, with one goal and two assists to his name.
However, it does not seem that the player has done enough to secure a dream return to the Spanish capital, especially given the existing bench in the position.
Davies' signing is considered almost over.
It is worth noting that Real Madrid's option to buy Gutierrez can only be activated by paying 8 million euros. This amount will increase to 9 and 10 million euros respectively during the next two seasons.
In addition, the Whites have the opportunity to match the price of any club that attempts to sign the young defender and steal the deal.
The player is eager to make a comeback, but the current dynamic makes things complicated.
