FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Qualified Teams and New Format
For the first time, the FIFA Club World Cup will expand to a 32-team format in 2025, with the tournament set to take place in the USA. This marks a major change from the previous format, which featured only seven teams in an annual event.
The expanded format offers more spots for clubs across various continents, with Europe receiving the most representation at 12 teams. South America follows with six teams, while CONCACAF, AFC (Asia), and CAF (Africa) each get four teams. Oceania has one representative, and the host nation, the USA, will also have a club in the competition.
How Teams Qualify:
- UEFA: Europe gets 12 spots, with the UEFA Champions League winners from 2021 to 2024 gaining automatic entry. The remaining teams qualify based on performance across four years.
- CONMEBOL: South America has six teams, with the Copa Libertadores winners from 2021 to 2024 earning direct entry.
- CONCACAF: The region has four spots, with CONCACAF Champions League winners from 2021 to 2024 qualifying.
- AFC and CAF: Asia and Africa both get four spots, with their respective Champions League winners between 2021 and 2024 cutting.
- OFC: Oceania will have one team in the tournament, chosen from the highest-ranked club between 2021 and 2024.
- Host Nation: The USA will have a representative team, which will be Inter Miami CF.
