A respected journalist has provided a new update on Michail Antonio's condition after he was involved in a horrific car crash.
On Saturday, after rumors and images of a dented Ferrari circulated widely online, West Ham issued an official statement confirming that Antonio had been involved in a road accident.
In an update, the club announced that the Jamaica international was in a "stable condition" and was "conscious and communicating" in hospital following the incident.
A statement soon followed from local police, explaining that they, along with other emergency services, were at the scene following what they believe was a "single vehicle collision" that occurred in Coppice Row, Epping.
The Road Policing Unit is carrying out further investigations and details of Antonio's injuries have been released by West Ham, who said he had undergone successful surgery on a fractured lower limb.
"West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio has undergone surgery for a fractured lower limb following a road traffic accident on Saturday afternoon," the club said.
"Michail will continue to be monitored in hospital over the coming days.
"Everyone at the Club wishes Michail a speedy recovery and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire football family for the overwhelming support shown since yesterday's news, as well as a sincere thank you to the football emergency services and initial to the responders who looked after Mikhail in the immediate aftermath of the incident and the medical team who continue to assist with his recovery."
