Manchester City is set to face Fulham at the Etihad this Saturday, but Pep Guardiola might have to contend with a growing list of injured players that threaten to derail the team’s title challenges.
Coming from the midst of a joyous 4-0 running over of Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League, City now face a series of injuries which may hamper their domestic season.
Manchester City to be without De Bruyne, Rodri, and Ake for Fulham game
Man City midfielder Rodri is ruled out until the end of the 2024-25 campaign after picking up a decisive knee ligament injury in the past month. His loss is a big blow to City in the midfield especially since he’s been instrumental in their defensive strength. Pep Guardiola therefore finds himself with a tactical conundrum if he has to look for a replacement shortly.
Premier League ace midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, has been on the sidelines for the last four games due to a groi for the match against Fulham. The Belgian playmaker was given a 4-6 week ban and should feature after the international break most likely on the 20th of October against Wolves. The team’s lack of De Bruyne has been keenly tasted when it comes to creativity in attack, as the team will have to draw from the deputies.
Centre-back Nathan Ake, who has been sidelined by a muscle injury, is also expected to be back in action as soon as the international break finishes. It was a real loss for City to have him on the bench, and the defense is going to have to stay on their toes for the match against Fulham.
Mark dot Robert Oscar Bobb’s Long Road to Recovery
Oscar Bobb is another such player who missed the event as he suffered a fracture on his leg in training in August. City’s squad size will be diminished again, and the promising talent is not likely to return until later in the year.
However these injuries Manchester City will look forward to resuming their title charge against Fulham. Some of City’s important players will miss the match and Guardiola has to understand that they too can play without necessarily relying on some of these big names.
