Inter Miami forward Luis Suarez has hinted that he will renew his contract with the Major League Soccer club. He wants to play with Lionel Messi for one more season and extend his contract with MLS, which expires after the end of this year.
The Uruguayan forward, a candidate for the 2024 MLS Golden Boot, said he wanted to stay longer in South Beach.
During Inter Miami training on Friday, Luis Suarez informed reporters that he hopes to continue playing with the team after his contract expires in 2024. "I know my lawyer is in discussions with the club," Suarez told reporters. "I wanted to finish in the best way possible, showing the club that I am excited. I feel good physically and I want to continue to be part of the history of this club."
In 26 games, including 20 with Luis Suarez as a starter, the Uruguayan forward scored 18 goals and provided seven assists during his remarkable first season with the team.
Since joining the Herons ahead of the 2024 season, Luis Suarez, 37, has been a valuable signing. In 33 club matches in all competitions for MLS, he scored 22 goals and 10 assists. However, many factors will come into play in getting an extension. Both parties must agree on the salary for the duration of the contract.
With the end of the regular season approaching, Luis Suarez is still in contention for the 2024 MLS Golden Boot. This means that on Saturday night the Uruguayan would need to score an incredible five goals to equal six to win the award. To conclude their regular season, Inter Miami will face the New England Revolution on Saturday night. His attention will then turn to the 2024 MLS Playoffs, where he hopes to claim the MLS Cup as the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
