Transfer news: Liverpool could lose Mo Salah as PSG eye their next star
Buyers Club claims that PSG is currently the favorite for Salah’s signature, as the Ligue 1 side are already making preparations for a big-money move for the Liverpool forward. Nevertheless, there is doubt if the Red's management will let their star striker go.
Now, at 32, Salah has been in his best shape with the arrival of a new manager, Arne Slot, with five goals and five assists to his name this campaign. They have helped Liverpool remain at the top of the English Premier League and give a good account of themselves in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
His current contract expires in just over a decade hence, owing to his form and contributions, there’s constant furor for more information on his contract.
PSG or Saudi Arabia? What’s Next for Salah
Though Saudi Arabia clubs have expressed interest and provided unreasonably big amount of money for the acquisition of Salah, PSG stands out as his preferred destination. Newspaper The Sun claimed that the Ligue 1 club is keen to make Salah their next big signing after Mbappe’s likely to join Real Madrid by offering him a new contract of three years.
PSG’s interest is real, but Liverpool has turned down bids above £100 million ($131m) expecting the Egyptian attacker to renew his contract. Club officials still think he has plenty more football left in him at the highest level, while according to sources, Salah has no desire to move from Europe to Saudi Arabia.
Could Salah Fire PSG in the Champions League:?
PSG have been impressive in their Ligue 1 campaign, having scored 20 goals in their first six matches, although the same cannot be said for PSG in the Champions League after a labored victory over Girona that was followed by a defeat to Arsenal. PSG must pray that Salah possesses the X-factor the Parc des Princes side has been lacking in Europe for seasons.
To Liverpool fans, losing Salah would be a problem because he is one of the most influential players for at least three years. It is high time to show what they have got, and as PSG is interested in the player and no new contract signed yet, the pressure increases.
