Late Abraham Winner Gives Milan Italian SuperCup Win Over Inter

Tammy Abraham scored the decisive goal in injury time as AC Milan came down two goals to beat rivals Inter 3-2 and win the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh.

Lautaro Martinez and Mehdi Taremi's goals either side of half-time looked set to win Inter a second successive title, but Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan rescued his team from a deeper deficit.

A long-range free-kick from Theo Hernandez gave Milan hope and Christian Pulisic equalised before Abraham's late goal from England gave Sergio Conceicao his first trophy in just his second game in charge of the Rossoneri.

Conceicao should have been pleased with the way his team started the game. Tijjani Reijnders created two early chances, and Inter struggled to create anything of substance until the 23rd minute.

Federico Dimarco almost gave the hosts the first real chance, but his shot was deflected for a corner by a sprawling Maignan, in the first of a series of high-profile saves.

Inter suffered a setback on the half-hour mark when Hakan Calhanoglu was forced off with an injury, but the players took the lead on the break when Martinez cut between two defenders and fired into the corner of the net.

A brilliant first-time pass from Taremi set up a swift counterattack two minutes into the second half, bringing Inter closer to a sixth successive win in all competitions.

But Rafael Leao's substitution on 50 minutes gave Milan hope, and less than two minutes later, Hernandez sent his shot past Yann Sommer into the Inter goal.

Malick Thiaw and Pulisic had chances as Milan pressed before another brilliant run from Leao, which created a good opportunity for Reijnders, who was denied by a superb block from Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni.

Sommer saved a shot from Alvaro Morata before the game went the other way. Taremi missed a golden chance to score his second, and then Maignan beat Martinez as Inter took their turn to press.

Milan equalized 10 minutes later through Leao, who was again the instigator. He released Hernandez on the left before his cross found Pulisic, who turned and fired just wide of Sommer.

Maignan denied Tarem before the goalkeeper showed heroics to deny Davide Frattesi and Denzel Dumfries quickly as Inter fought for victory.

Instead, former Chelsea player Abraham, who replaced Yunus Musah in the 77th minute, reacted quickest to Leao's through ball to break into the right side of the box and score the winning goal from a tight angle.
