Recently, popular IShowSpeed, who once stated that he had a huge crush on Cristiano Ronaldo, tried to show off his hero’s unbelievable shape by trying to set a world record. Clad in a Portugal No. 7 jersey with Ronaldo’s name on the back, 19-year-old old’s Darren Watkins was another person who wanted to popularize the record of the most number of back flips in 24 hrs. At the moment, to the number 1001 points adduced by Austria’s Nico Scheicher, which he scored in nine hours in 2019.
Some pundits, fans, and even Guinness World Records thought Watkins had retired from performing his famous backflips although they reacted jovially, saying ‘‘We had no idea this was happening but you do you bro.”
Watkins then confessed that he had only begun, what he called practice, just the week before by doing sit-ups and push-ups. Watkins set the pace and for the first 25 hours, he successfully did 461 backflips but at some point, I noticed he had some challenges and complained of aching legs, in defeatist tones he announced, “My legs are done”. So tired he felt, he mentioned that he had been sipping on electrolytes and asked, ‘I don’t know what else to do’. A friend even came with bags of apples accompanied with peanut butter to replenish his energy.
That is why Watkins, who met Ronaldo in person in 2023, is famous for his raving comments about the football player. At some point during the meeting, Watkins was so emotional that he knelt on the ground and began to shout while hugging the Portugal football star. Ronaldo, who continues to excel in football his fitness and commitment to a healthy lifestyle have enabled him to play at the highest level of football as he turns 40, and Watkins’ attempt could have been as a result of football icon’s hard work.
