Messi goal goal-scoring record cannot be matched by any other footballer even at this age, the 37-year-old player is still scoring for his club and country. He recently scored three goals against the New England Revolution in MLS, making him score his 49th club hat-trick. Before that Messi also notched up a treble of goals for Argentina in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Bolivia taking his international hat trick tally to ten.
Nevertheless, these scores can hardly make Messi the world record holder for the number of hat-tricks scored in football. Today Cristiano Ronaldo is only 7 goals ahead of Messi with a record of 66 career hat-tricks. However, both players are level on 10 international hat-tricks apiece. When analyzing club hat-tricks Ronaldo has 56 and Messi has 49.
Since Messi continues to play and is two years younger than Ronaldo, there is a good prospect of his reducing the existing difference and even equaling or bettering Ronaldo’s record.
