Erling Haaland gets a big chance to make history in English football. He’s for Manchester City in their League game against Brentford.
the international break, Haaland scored hat-tricks in two games! The teams were Ipswich Town and West. This means he has netted seven goals in only three games this season. WowHe also found the net when Norway won 2-1 against Austria in the UEFA Nations League. But then, he had some time off because of the sad event. A close family friend, Ivar Eggja, passed away at 59. He was a good friend of Haaland’s dad, Alfie.
Guardiola spoke about it: “It’s a tough moment for him & his family. It’s very sad news. Our thoughts are with them.”
He added, "We will see if Erling is mentally and physically ready to play tomorrow."
In the end, Guardiola has picked Haaland to lead a strong attack. He'll be joined by Jack Grealish & Savinho, who missed the last game due to a knee issue.
In defense, England players Kyle Walker and John Stones are starting together for the first time this season! Ilkay Gundogan is also back after his return to City. The bench features a strong lineup, including Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, and Josko Gvardiol.
Now, about that hat-trick record! If Haaland scores again against Brentford, he’ll be only the fifth player ever in English football to get hat-tricks in three games straight! The last one to do this was back in 1946!
Jack Balmer from Liverpool was the first one long ago—he scored against Portsmouth, Derby County, & Arsenal. Then there are Frank Osborne from Tottenham in 1925, Tom Jennings from Leeds United in 1926, and Dixie Dean from Everton in 1928.
Let’s see what happens! It could be an exciting day for Haaland & all of us fans!
