Guardiola and Arteta's Views on Title Race Revealed Amid Liverpool's Edge

Liverpool are well-placed at the top of the Premier League table after 10 defeats this season following surprise defeats to rivals Manchester City and Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta have reflected on their side's chances in the Premier League title race after losing ground to Liverpool. The Reds recorded a 2-1 win over Brighton on Saturday thanks to second-half goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah's winner.

Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table thanks to this win over the Seagulls. Arne Slott's team took advantage of defeats at Arsenal and Manchester City on the same day to move two points clear at the top of the table with 10 games now played. Arsenal dropped points early on Saturday with a 1-0 loss at Newcastle. The Gunners are now seven points behind Liverpool in the table - and are also behind Nottingham Forest - and could drop as low as sixth at the end of Sunday's game depending on the results of Aston Villa and Chelsea.

Arteta was asked about the title race after Arsenal's defeat in St. "I understand, but after eight, nine or ten games last year, we didn't talk and we're not talking about it now," Arteta told reporters.

"It's a matter of how you react to it. We will not find the right words or answers to describe how we feel, so we have to put ourselves on the field on Wednesday night against Inter [Milan]. »

City also suffered a surprise defeat on Saturday, losing 2-1 at Bournemouth, with Josko Guardiol scoring a late consolation after goals from Antoine Semenyo and Evanlison. Liverpool are now two points ahead of City after 10 games next weekend - the last games before the November international break.

Guardiola was asked about the defeat against Bournemouth and explained how City will try to bounce back from the last meeting in the race for the title. "Sometimes we have to accept that the opponents play a kind of game," said the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach.

“Sometimes you face it, and sometimes you struggle a little bit. Today (Saturday) it happened.

"[The players] are making a tremendous effort," added Guardiola. "These are players who are not at their best and have made a tremendous effort to be here.

"Manu [Akanji] and Nathan [Ake] were not in good shape. Until the last moment, I did not know that Nathan could play, he told me that he wanted to try [despite the injury].

“During the season, this kind of thing happens sometimes more than other seasons… You have to deal with it. People have to come back and sooner or later the team has to come back.
