Four Arrested After Stabbing of Spanish Teen Star Lamine Yamal's Father
According to the AFP, on Thursday, the local police announced that they had arrested four people for assaulting Mounir Nasraoui, who is Lamine Yamal’s father, a Spanish rising football star.
The Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan regional police force) spokesperson says that this happened at 1910 GMT in a car park located in Mataró, which is approximately 30 kilometres from Barcelona at Rocafonda, where Lamine Yamal comes from. Nasraoui was stabbed several times and is currently being treated at Can Ruti Hospital. AFP could not reach the hospital for comment.
Three suspects were apprehended last night, while the fourth one was taken into custody this morning at 09:00 GMT.
The police said they will be undertaking interviews with witnesses and victims as soon as possible to establish what transpired during the attack.
Reports suggest that La Vanguardia newspaper states the fight started after men approached Nasraoui on a street while he was walking his dog and ended up beating him later.
In April 2023, Yamal made his debut for FC Barcelona at the age of 15 and rapidly rose to fame, becoming an important player for the Catalan giants. However, he is currently 17 years old and still plays as a winger for Spain; he played a vital role in the country’s first European championship win back in 2024, where he managed to become both the youngest ever footballer to score and play within the history of this tournament.
Yamal’s father and grandmother are still living in Rocafonda, and the young star often celebrates his goals by holding up three fingers on one hand and zero on the other, representing his neighborhood’s zip code, 304.
During his stay at the European Championship, Nasraoui became known through social media activity as well as frequent interviews where he would usually post pictures indicating support for his son.
