After facing challenges at Manchester United for years, Donny van de Beek has found a new beginning in Spain.
The Dutch midfielder, who once played brilliantly for Ajax, has talked about his difficult time at Old Trafford and how things didn't turn out as planned.
Van de Beek joined Manchester United in 2020 with high hopes, but quickly found himself not playing much. He went on loan to Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt, but neither move helped him get back to his best form.
This summer, he made a fresh start by joining Girona in La Liga permanently.
What did Donnie van de Beek say about his time at Man Utd?
In an interview with ESPN Netherlands, Van de Beek said he holds no grudges about his time at United.
“It didn’t work out for either of us,” he said, but he remains positive about the experience. “I didn’t play much, but I learned a lot. I was around good players and good people at the club, and I’ll take those lessons with me.”
Van de Beek's new beginning at Girona is looking good. He came off the bench in a 4-0 win against Osasuna and helped his team with an assist, showing some of his old skills. Girona, which just qualified for the UEFA Champions League, gives the 27-year-old a chance to restart his career and show Manchester United what they might have missed.
Even though some United fans might remember him as one of the club's less successful signings during the Glazer era, Van de Beek now has a chance to prove himself again.
