FIFA Unveils 12 U.S. Venues for 2025 Club World Cup, Final Set for MetLife Stadium

‘This new FIFA competition is a real club football competition which reflects solidarity and integration for the best Africa, Asia, Central, and North America and Oceanian teams eager to challenge Europe’s and South America’s giants.’ It will have a very profound effect on the development of club football and talent across the globe,” said Infantino.

Infantino announced the venue while speaking at the Global Citizen Festival in the Central Park of New York City. Furthermore, FIFA and Global Citizen have collaborated for four years to advance their organization’s anti-poverty campaign; Global Citizen is expected to stage the 2026 World Cup final’s halftime show.

This next Club World Cup, and Cup of Nations, will be a crucial warm-up for the 2026 World Cup and will focus on security measures due to concerns arising for crowd troubles in July during the Copa America matches in Charlotte and Miami.

The tournament has not had any broadcast deals or sponsorships yet and the idea has been criticized in the football fraternity. The players’ union FIFpro and the body known as European Leagues have complained to the EC, saying that the tournament comes to an already congested international fixture list and also burdens the players.

The previous Club World Cup was a 7-team knock-out competition: Manchester City won it, beating Fluminense from Brazil in the final held in Saudi Arabia.

12 venues selected for 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, final to be staged at MetLife Stadium :

The football governing body has unveiled the 12 host stadiums of the increased 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with the final due to be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Just like in previous years, the event will comprise 32 teams for the first time, beginning on June 15 and ending on July 13., The event will be held in various locations across the United States.

The upcoming football stadium to host the 2026 World Cup is the famous MetLife Stadium – the stadium of the New York Giants of the National Football League and New York Jets. The tournament will act as a perfect preparation for that event.

In addition to MetLife, the other selected venues include:

  • Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
  • Bank of America Stadium (Charlotte)
  • TQL Stadium (Cincinnati)
  • Hard Rock Stadium (Miami)
  • GEODIS Park (Nashville)
  • Camping World Stadium (Orlando)
  • Inter&Co Stadium (Orlando)
  • Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia)
  • Audi Field (Washington, D.C.)
  • Rose Bowl (Pasadena, Los Angeles)
  • Lumen Field (Seattle)

However, only Rose Bowl and Lumen Field were earmarked for the tournament under consideration that will take place concurrently with the CONCACAF Gold Cup mainly played on the West Coast.

The qualifying draw is to take place in December, which leaves only the final 30 of the total 32 teams to be filled via such a competition. The participating teams include some of Europe’s powerhouse clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich from the South American region there will be River Plate, Boca Juniors, and Flamengo.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who declared the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, New York, was amped up for the development. ”This new format will give an unprecedented chance to clubs from all over the world to compete on the international level and to contribute to the further evolution of the sport in the world.”

At the same time, FIFA announced the admission of a partnership with Global Citizen on its fight against poverty, to last for four years. As for the partnership, Global Citizen will be also responsible for the shooting of the final World Cup halftime show in 2026.

The tournament has, however, attracted concern in equal measure especially with praises being made as preparations for the new Club World Cup get underway. FIFpro and the European Leagues have objected based on the football schedule, the already overloaded schedule in sight, and the extra load that will be imposed on the players. However, it will be a much-hyped international football event, since Def Harbour is a consortium of developers planning to execute a large-scale football extravaganza.
