Dortmund Hit 7 as Barcelona, Man City, and Arsenal Secure Champions League Wins

Borussia Dortmund won big against Celtic while Barcelona and Manchester City got their first win in the newly formatted Champions League on Tuesday.

Adeyemi scored all her goals in the first half and helped Dortmund effect a 7- 1 mauling of Celtic at home, another good signal for a German team, in the wake of the 9-2 pulverization of Dinamo Zagreb by Bayern Munich on match day one.

Robert Lewandowski scored for Barcelona in the first half as the Spanish club dominated Young Boys of Switzerland with a clean 5-0 win. However, former teammate İlkay Gündoğan aided Manchester City to a friendly 4-0 victory against Slovan Bratislava, while Erling Haaland chipped in by scoring his 42nd Champions League goal across merely 41 appearances.

City was painstakingly kept to a barren encounter with Inter Milan in their first match, meanwhile, Barcelona was handed over a 2-1 defeat against Monaco, the first defeat for new coach Hansi Flick.

Mikel Arteta was also a winner in Paris as Arsenal defeated his former side, PSG 2-0, in a match that saw Kai Havertz and Bukayo getting on the score sheet. Luis Enrique’s decision to drop Ousmane Dembélé did not pay off for PSG.

Arteta had played for PSG when he was with Barcelona as a player at one time, on an 18-month loan.

Organized Chaos: Dortmund Fans Protest on Changes

Some of the Dortmund fans took the chance to protest against UEFA's new format despite the team starting strongly with ten goals scored in two games including a 3-0 triumph over Club Brugge. There was a huge tifo in the bleachers saying that the reforms were bad.

As for the changes, the latter has seen a new format which included four more teams and a new format of the group stage; this new format is a league one. On that basis, the first phase involves each of the 36 participating teams playing against eight different teams. UEFA suggested that the changes would ensure that there are better-matched fixtures, however Tuesday night’s football fixtures with teams such as Barcelona, City, and Dortmund triumphing big proved the claims wrong.

On Tuesday in other matches, Inter Milan completely trounced Red Star Belgrade 4-0 while tournament rookies Brest also won their second consecutive match with a 4-0 rout of Salzburg.

Mehdi Taremi scored a penalty against Red Star Israeli goalkeeper Omri Glazer although he scored two goals for Inter Iran fired missile against Israel.

Brest’s Senegalese forward Abdallah Sima has become the team’s top goal scorer after netting two goals in the Brest-Brest match to take his tally to three goals in two games after thrashing Sturm Graz 2-1.

Other scores were Bayer Leverkusen who defeated AC Milan 1-0, which was so good from Victor Boniface’s goal. With a couple of minutes to go to full time, Daniel Bragança came off the bench to level the score for Sporting Lisbon at 1-1 against PSV Eindhoven. An equally impressive free-kick from Kaan Kairinen took Prague to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Stuttgart who marked their comeback to the European league with a creative and hilarious group celebration. This was Stuttgart’s first Champions League home match since they were held to a 1-1 by Barcelona earlier this year in 2010.
