Club Manager Makes Emotional Transfer Plea to Luka Modric

Dinamo Zagreb coach Nenad Bjelica has urged Luka Modric to consider an emotional return to his former club as he approaches the end of his contract with Real Madrid.

Modric, who turns 39 in September, is entering the final six months of his current deal and faces an uncertain future after failing to establish himself as a regular in Carlo Ancelotti's starting line-up during his final 18 months at the club.

The midfielder has started just five of his team's 12 La Liga games this season after making 18 starts last season and is approaching a crossroads in his career as he considers an extension with Madrid, either through retirement or followed by another move.

For Dinamo boss Bjelica, the preferred move would be a return to the Croatian side where Modric made his name before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2008.

"Who wouldn't want to have a Luka Modric in their team?" he told Radio MARCA. "I think all Dinamo Zagreb fans will be very happy to be able to count on Luka, at least for one year.

he would help the team a lot, but the most realistic thing would be for him to stay in Madrid or finish his career elsewhere, although we would like him to finish his career at Dinamo Zagreb.

" For Madrid, life without Modric is something the club's management is preparing for, with Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz already identified as a potential replacement. Wirtz could also be joined in Spain by manager Xabi Alonso, who has been tipped as the heir to Ancelotti's throne.
