Chelsea are expected to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window despite spending heavily this summer under Enzo Maresca.
The Blues have spent around £206m ($267m) on new players ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season, with £204m ($264m) in sales as the club looks to settle.
Maresca's tenacity to sell or loan out players who don't fit his plans has been a major focus of pre-season, with the Italian manager peerless in his assessment of the Blues squad.
Alongside the sales, there have also been several late loan departures, including the arrival of Raheem Sterling at Arsenal, as Maresca looked to reduce his bloated options.
As the campaign draws to a close, fans have gained a clearer picture of Maresca's vision at Stamford Bridge, but question marks remain over several players. England international Ben Chilwell has been linked with a move away in January, having played just 45 minutes in the EFL Cup so far this season, but Benoit Badiashile is ready to stay and fight for his place.
The former AS Monaco center-back did not hold a regular place in 2022/23 or 2023/24 and his position came under pressure in August when the club was thought to be open to a sale.
The 23-year-old has not started an EPL game this season - playing just 37 minutes in the league - but has played 90 minutes in all four of Chelsea's UEFA League Conference games and two EFL Cup games.
This platform will keep him in Maresca's mind as the towering defender looks to fight for his future at Chelsea.
"Of course I want to stay - Chelsea is a big club and I know how difficult it is to succeed here. "I will do my best to achieve this," he said.
Badiashile is expected to start in Chelsea's Conference League match against Armenian junior club FC Noah tonight before a Championship clash this weekend against Arsenal on November 10.
