Chelsea fans may soon be treated to the sight of a home-grown talent in the Europa Conference League although, head coach Enzo Maresca doesn’t hesitate to endorse Casadei as ready to play in the Europa Conference League. Thus, there were certain concerns and although staying at Chelsea without a proper offer in a summer transfer market is usually unimaginable, Casadei is happy to be back in the squad and ready to demonstrate his worth.
It appeared the Italian’s future could lie elsewhere after he was left out of Chelsea’s senior team during the previous summer. But still, no good offer came with the particular Italy Under-21, therefore the player was brought back into the team. His full 90-minute performance in the EFL Cup match against Barrow has earned him a chance to play more games.
Indeed, when Maresca was playing alongside Casadei at Leicester, the youngster will be used in a new position as a defensive-midfield player.
“I think Cesare did very well in that game [against Barrow],” Maresca said in a press conference. “Over the initial part of the course, he found it a tad difficult but he came through in the end in flying colors. Then he will most probably occupy that very position once again.”
Maresca is confident that Casadei also has the possibility of giving something more than he has already been accustomed to – namely improving his stability in defensive roles where he can play like any other box-to-box midfielder. “He also has the potential to contribute in building up the team, defending as well as staying erect. He can do that,” the coach added.
Long-Awaited Breakthrough For Cesare Casadei
A €20 million player signed for Chelsea in 2022 Casadei requires more playing minutes more than anything else. However, while a Premier League return might still be beyond him, the chance to fire the team on in the new Europa Conference League will surely suit the former Inter Milan youth product down to the ground.
Chelsea fans should watch this man, he will be an integral player in their European journey. Despite this, the Italian has only five Premier League appearances under his belt; however, he has 21 starts and 16 games as a substitute for the Championship sides Reading and Leicester.
