Barcelona management is said to be considering signing Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané on a free transfer in the summer of 2025, all the while the Blaugrana wrestles with some financial difficulties. Nevertheless, the financial structure of the Catalan club will remain very restrictive in 2025 and the club will have to go on player sales, even more so since Camp Nou is being renovated.
This is the case that Barcelona could capitalize on Sané status given that the German international’s current deal with Bayern Munich will expire at the end of the 2024/2025 season. There are signs that Diario Sport that Sané will not renew his contract, and Messi’s end can start negotiations as early as January. However, Barcelona will make sure that when they appear formerly to the DFB, they get additional guarantees that Sané is in good health and can adjust to the tactical strictures of Hansi Flick, the coach.
Flick knows Sané, having brought him to Bayern specifically for the start of the 2020/21 season, which may help to influence the winger’s decision in regards to the possibility of a transfer to Barcelona. Though Sané won a Bundesliga title in 2019/2020, his role has reduced in successive seasons as young talents like Jamal Musiala and new arrival Michael Olise have threatened to overtake him in Bayern alongside Harry Kane.
