Barcelona heads to Madrid this weekend to face La Liga champions Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Currently atop the league standings, the Blaugrana arrive as favorites, bolstered by the recent returns of several injured players, though Eric Garcia remains sidelined.
Man City’s Eric Garcia misses Clasico due to illness
Former La Masia youth product Eric Garcia, a versatile defender, will not be available for the El Clasico match on Saturday. The latest information published in Mundo Deportivo also states that Garcia did not train today, which means he will not be able to play in the decisive clash. He suffered an adductor strain a few days before Barca’s encounter with Sevilla next week, thus did not play against Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 second leg match. Though there was conjecture that he could be back in time for the matches, his lack of practice rules him out for the games.
Other Injuries for Barcelona
Being away are Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ferran Torres, and Marc Bernal. Despite such omissions, the league leaders are confident of the squad they have for the Clasico.
Real Madrid’s Injury Woes
Real Madrid will also be without the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Dani Carvajal & David Alaba as they look forward to one of the season’s biggest fixtures.
