This is a familiar story for Arsenal and the international break as their star forward, Gabriel Martinelli has a calf problem while away with Brazil. By the time fans had begun to witness the spark in César a Brazilian winger again, he is likely to miss the next Premier League match against Bournemouth.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed the injury, stating: ”His side said that the Inter Miami striker Gabriel Martinelli felt pain in his right calf during the match and received an MRI on Sunday night that showed he had a minor muscle inflammation.” The injury does not seem to be that severe but it is enough to make the Gunners fans worry.
This is the latest setback for the Arsenal team which has tasted a heavy test of injuries from the back from International duties this season.
Arsenal's Injury Woes: Saka, Havertz as well as Martinelli & Others
Injury misfortune disrupts Martinelli’s form and arrives at a delicate time for the club with other talents such as Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka also nursing injuries. Saka, who hobbled off during the match against Greece, was returned to Arsenal’s base at London Colney for further treatment join other players on the treatment table.
The Gunners bosses’ team has subsequently started the current season well, however, the seasonal injuries if continued will be a threat. Martinelli, who has now scored two goals and provided two assists in his last five Arsenal appearances, will be a significant blow if he misses further games.
Former Premier League soccer star Darren Bent still sees good signs for the progress of Martinelli, despite such a small hiccup of an injury. In an interview with Talk Sport, Bent had this to say; “Confidence I feel is the biggest most important aspect of football” You can see it coming back in him. “Before I hear from you again,” – “Well, before Christmas, I expect, he’ll be able to fly again.”
For now, Arsenal fans will be waiting nervously, keeping their fingers crossed that this is just a small setback in what could be a great season.
